Rehearsal for Disaster: the Dream of the Red Room
April 4 - May 2, 2008

VITA Lecture (Visitors In The Arts Lecture Series 2008)
Thursday, April 3rd 7-9 pm
Toronto based Libby Hague works in a novel form of print installation, a theatrical approach to printmaking that integrates print, video and sculpture. Her talk will emphasize materials and modular processes and how the combination has helped her create 3-D print installations. Her recent exhibitions include Everything Needs Everything, Rehearsal for Disaster, Avalanche, and Ice Storm, exploring themes of disaster and rescue.
Opening Reception: Friday, April 4th 7-10 pm
The artist will be present. This event is complimentary and open to the public.
EXTREME WOODCUT Workshop: Saturday, April 5th 10 am - 4 pm
This workshop is designed to expand the expressive range of a single matrix and free up thinking about working with paper.
Using Japanese paper, artists will experiment with printing oil-based ink as a resist for the painterly monoprinting effects that follow. This technique collapses the traditional difference between black line and white line woodcuts by allowing black lines to have a new immediacy and directness that is further modulated through monoprinting. By applying paste to the back of the print, it will be physically manipulated as sculpture.
Cost: $50 members • $75 members and students • All materials included
All events will be held at the Windsor Printmaker’s Forum located at 20 Devonshire Road, Lower Level, Windsor, Ontario. Please call 519.253.9493 to pre register.
