Welcome to Collagraph: the poor person’s printmaking! In this workshop, you will learn the basics of the tack-on-texture method of collograph, which incorporates found objects and can be done quite inexpensively. You will learn how to print your plates both by hand and with an intaglio press. This method allows for unique abstract images, but can also be utilized to create more refined drawings. Texture examples include: brush strokes made with acrylic paint, lace and other types of fabric, pieces of card board or thick paper, yarn and string, hair, sand and salt. Please feel free to bring in any textures that you would like to experiment with, but remember that they must be no larger than a centimeter in height.
Erin is a printmaker and mixed media artist. She studied Visual Arts, Art History and Psychology at the University of Windsor.
